I have been named the sixth recipient of the Premio Historia de Órdenes Españolas. The prize was established by the current members of the military orders that date from the twelfth century in Spain: Santiago, Calatrava, and Alcántara in Castile and Montesa in Aragón. Eligible nominees are historians working anywhere in the world, at least some of whose publications concern Spain. Previous recipients were John H. Elliott, Miguel Angel Ladero Quesada, Enrique Krauze, Carmen Iglesias, and Giovanni Muto. This is a tremendous honor for me and also for every historian of Spain working in the United States. You can see more about the prize on the internet: https://xn--premioordenesespaolas-sbc.es/es/
The formal presentation will take place later this year, depending on the calendar of the Casa Real.
